American Cockroach

American Cockroach ExterminatorCockroaches can be found everywhere that food is prepared and stored. Obviously this includes homes, restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, breweries, food processing plants, pet shops, ect. You can find cockroaches inside or outside and they typically breed in the sewers and underground utility systems.

Adult American cockroaches are a light shade of brown and can be as big as 2.1 inches in length. Their bodies are oval shaped. The American cockroach is easily identified by its antennae which are often even longer than its body. Although they do have wings, cockroaches usually won’t fly away if bothered. Only the adult cockroaches have wings. The immature cockroaches are called nymphs and do not have wings. Otherwise, they look like smaller versions of the adults.

Female cockroaches tend to leave their egg cases near a food source. The eggs will hatch after an average of 44 days. Cockroaches take a long time to fully develop, over a year, and their adult life span lasts for more than a year as well.

The most favorable living conditions for a cockroach are dark and humid. In your home you can find them in the basement, in the pipes, and in the drains. Aside from their presence, which, in and of itself, offends most people, cockroaches also create a foul odor and can get into stored food. Obviously, humans don’t tolerate them.

An Integrated Pest Management (IMP) is recommended. Use pesticides that are least harmful to humans. This should be followed by routine inspection and monitoring to make sure the roaches are not thriving.
